Split (Poem)

Split

The moment we choose to love
         we begin to move . . . towards freedom. . . .
           ~ bell hooks

It begins with two
dividing, redividimg
half of mine, more
than yours, all that
bordered space
whose lines once
drawn no more
can hold us
each in our place
unloved.
